The Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services is now accepting grant applications for $25 million of CARES Act funds designated for certain nonprofits.

First announced last month, grants are limited to 501(c)(3) organizations that directly serve low-income or at-risk Ohioans and have reduced or stopped operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations in the industries of healthcare, education, recreation, and/or cultural activities are excluded under the eligibility criteria.

Award amounts will be determined based on the number of approved applicants and the total amount of agency unemployment charges incurred by each approved applicant. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on November 27, 2020. Applicants will receive notice of approval or denial on December 11, and grant awards will be distributed by December 21.
