Considering Divorce - What Keeps You Up At Night?

Uncertainty and the feeling of being out of control are some of the worst aspects of divorce. At one point you and your spouse were on the same page and the ship was sailing smoothly.  Suddenly and out of nowhere your former ally is now your worst enemy.  When this happens you are undoubtedly going to have questions and real concerns about your future and the future of your children and even your ex-spouse.

Don’t panic! This is the time to reach out and begin to gather as much information as possible to help you navigate the rough waters ahead.  Knowledge is power and helps with the feeling of being out of control.  It is important to find another ally to be on your team.  Here at Graydon we have the experience to help you put together a quality team to address many of the questions that might keep you up at night.

You will need help with many issues and certainly some of the following. How to survive financially during the pendency of the divorce, whether you are in need of support or may have to pay support; Can I trust my spouse; Should I settle or litigate the issues; Should I go back to work; Does my attorney understand my goals.  We understand that you may not have any experience with the court system, so we will take the time to teach you and guide you.  You can attempt to resolve the issues outside of the court system and then present the agreement to the court.  However, the courts offer many possible solutions to the issues raised above, such as, filing with the court for temporary relief financially and to assure parenting schedules for the children.   You always have the right to resolve your issues with mediation, the collaborative process or litigation.  These times are certainly uneasy, but a good team can help with the path forward.
