Did You Really Think It Was Going To End Well?

I don’t know what I can add to this post from the Courthouse News Service. The San Diego law firm Gordon & Holmes is suing Courtney Love for defamation. Apparently, the firm conditioned its representation of Ms. Love upon her remaining sober for the duration of the case for which the firm was retained. When that didn’t work out so well, Ms. Love retained new counsel, but soon wanted to get back with Gordon & Holmes. When Gordon & Holmes declined the reunion tour, Ms. Love sent out tweets and spouted off in interviews that the firm had been “bought off.” Gordon & Holmes and one of its partners are now seeking punitive damages. I’m not saying I’m an expert, but when you feel the need to condition your representation on your client’s sobriety, that may be a bit of a red flag. Just sayin’.
