How To Limit Online Exposure

Here’s an interesting article from Wired that gives some practical advice about how to limit embarrassing exposure on social media sites. Perhaps the best advice in the article is this: “[T]he best way to avoid compromising situations online is to avoid compromising situations in real life.” How true. But if that’s easier said than done (and in my experience it is for sure) the article has some other tips. It’s worth reading. And I put it on a “legal” blog simply because, in many cases, there isn’t much of a legal solution when your picture shows up online. Assuming the picture was taken in a public place, there’s likely not a “reasonable expectation of privacy” in the photo. Which means not much chance of a legal remedy. So the practical tips may be the best course. And probably cheaper.
