Mainstream Media v. Aggregators: The Battle Heats Up

Over the last year or so, traditional media has started thinking seriously about what to do about “news aggregators” – typically bloggers who gather news items from mainstream outlets and post excerpts on their site. Ideally, people who read the blog will click on the link provided and go to the Web site of the mainstream media outlet. But that doesn’t always happen, and when it doesn’t the blog is “free riding” on the efforts of the mainstream outlet. Here’s an article that lays out both sides of the issue. Interesting.
