Mortar – Bringing Communities Together Through Entreprenership

The first partner that we would like to highlight is MORTAR, an entrepreneurship program targeting under-served and redeveloping communities. MORTAR’s mission is artfully summed up in the following paragraph from their website:

“We believe that entrepreneurship can change lives. When people have ownership in an area, they also have pride. This pride then manifests itself in the way that the residents become involved in their neighborhoods; no longer feeling like spectators watching life happen from the “cheap seats” – but instead taking the field, making plays as productive members of society.”

On September 22, 2016, MORTAR’s sixth class of entrepreneurs showcased their skills and introduced their businesses to the public.  It was an inspiring event, as it was clear that the entrepreneurs had given a lot of time and energy to their businesses and were dedicated to their success.

I encourage you to visit MORTAR’s website, wearemortar.com, as it has a thorough description of their mission and vision, as well as, a calendar of upcoming events, a list of current brand residencies at the Brick OTR pop-up shop, and information on ways that you can be involved.
