New Orleans Parish Drops Lawsuit

In the interest of fairness, I wanted to note that Jefferson Parish President Steve Theriot dropped his lawsuit against a group of anonymous online posters. He and the Parish had filed suit to discover the identities, alleging that Theriot and the Parish had “suffered embarrassment” over the postings. We posted a note on it last week. Apparently, Theriot dropped the suit after residents criticized Theriot and the Parish Council for filing the suit in the first place. There is no word on whether the residents were tipped off by our blog post. All things considered, Theriot did the right thing in dismissing the suit. Still, I don’t look for him to be featured in Volume 2 of “Profiles in Courage.”
