Ok, Let’s Go Over This One More Time
My colleague Andrea Rose brought this piece to my attention. It concerns a Mississippi judge who sent a lawyer to jail for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Here’s the thing. Part of what we are pledging our allegiance to, I think, is the freedom not to be compelled to recite the pledge. So I get that the judge was irritated with the lawyer, but his honor really missed the point.
