Scary Stuff

Here’s a scary/interesting item from Wired.com concerning a sophisticated hacking attack that is apparently spreading. The threat is called “Operation Aurora” and it came to light when it was discovered that Google was a victim. But according to this article, it has affected thousands of U.S. companies and government agencies. The challenged with these attacks, which experts refer to as “Advanced Persistent Threats” are that they are rarely detected by antivirus and intrusion programs. And they apparently can persist even after corrective measures are applied. There seems to be a China connection in most of the incidents. So if you do business there, you might want to check this out.
