Seems Like A No Brainer

Two plastic surgeons who were the subject of a negative review from a former patient posted on Google places are suing Google for $50 million in damages to their reputation. But just to make sure their reputations don’t suffer any additional damage, they are suing as “Dr. Jane and John Doe.” I really don’t know about their medical skills, but I really question their legal judgment. The federal Communications Decency Act provides explicitly that an interactive service like Google cannot be considered the publisher of content supplied by a third party. So the doctors can sue the former patient all they want, but they can’t get into the considerably large pockets of Google. This one really isn’t close. Maybe the plastic surgeons filed anonymously to, you know, save face. So to speak.
