The Fight Against A Cyber Smear Campaign
It occurs to me that the headline for this post would have been utterly meaningless just a few years ago. But even if the term “cyber smear” is of recent vintage, the problem it describes is very real. Here’s an interesting piece from Inc. about one company’s efforts to fight back against an online campaign to trash its reputation. Take a look at what Veritas Prep did, as well as the recommendations from experts. The point I think is to realize that a really effective approach requires offense and defense. There are some legal steps you can take, but there are limits. Combining a legal response with a public relations strategy seems like the best approach to me. But I’d love to hear what you think.
