WISE COUNSEL ON CAMPUS SPEECH
I’ve written about half a dozen posts on the topic of campus speech. I don’t mean to overdo it, but I just find it interesting. But I may not write anything else because I can’t top this article. It’s just a conversation between a reporter named Natalie Shutler and Professor Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
I won’t spoil the read by giving too much away, but suffice it to say, Professor Chemerinsky recognizes the tension posed when hateful speakers appear on campus. But his explanation for why the First Amendment controls is compelling.
